I have an older model Digi-Star Indicator with a serial port, will this work with your Bluetooth® wireless technology device for REAP?

No. The indicator needs a J-905 serial port that is manufactured after 2011. This will support the necessary communication and DC power for the Bluetooth® wireless technology device to work.


My Digi-Star indicator is newer than 2011 but doesn’t have a serial port, do I have to get a new indicator?

No. Scale-Tec has the ability to install a serial port on your indicator. If you send it to us for serial port installation, we will guarantee a one-day turn around when we receive your indicator. Scale-Tec is a certified service center for Digi-Star and Avery Weigh-Tronix Scale systems, including load cell cabling and indicator replacement parts.


I have an Avery Weigh-Tronix Indicator with a serial port, will it work with REAP?

No. Currently the Bluetooth® wireless technology device will not support communication with an Avery Weigh-Tronix indicator.


I use Metric Units with my scale system, does the REAP app support metric units of weight (kg)?

Yes, If your indicator is configured to show metric units, you will need to set up your REAP app to allow for metric units and conversion of bushels.


Can I use the Bluetooth® wireless technology adapter on other Digi-Star scale systems, such as my planter or seed tender?

Future apps will allow you to multipurpose your investment in Bluetooth® wireless technology hardware used with the REAP app. Check back frequently or fill out a request on our contact page if you would like to be notified when new apps are released that are supported with the Bluetooth device.


How long will you warranty your Bluetooth® wireless technology device?

The Bluetooth® Low Energy device will be warrantied for 3 years from the date of purchase. It will be your responsibility to prove the date of sale if purchased through a dealer. Proof of sale will be an original sales order or invoice from Scale-Tec or the Scale-Tec dealer. The warranty will only provide for manufacture defect and will not cover abuse, stolen or missing devices, or obsolescence exchange.


Is REAP available for Android users?

It is not, yet! Currently REAP is available for Apple iOS 9 and newer. We are working with developers toward making the app available for Android users.


What Apple devices will the REAP app work with?

If your Apple device supports a charger connection as depicted below, it will support the REAP Bluetooth® wireless technology device.

GPS locations are not appearing in some of my reports. Why is this happening?

If you are using an Apple device that does not support cellular data (does not have the capability of a cellular sim card), it will not have a GPS module to support location services. To record GPS location to your records, you will need to have an Apple device which has the capability of a cellular sim card. This does not mean that you have to have an active cellular data plan. If you have a WiFi-only model of an Apple device, it will not provide GPS location, such as an iTouch 5 or iTouch 6.


Do you sell Apple devices or Apple accessories and products?

Scale-Tec is not an Apple re-seller and does not provide Apple devices for use with the REAP app. Contact your Apple re-seller to acquire an apple device if needed. This could be your local cell phone provider or any major big box retailer. Scale-Tec does not sell accessories such as screen protectors, cases, or power adapters for Apple products.


Do I have to pay for a subscription for each cloud user, or does a cloud account cover multiple users?

Scale-Tec is offering its paid cloud subscription as a service to the entire farming operation. That means that users with your identified login will be able to connect to your cloud service. You will not be charged per user for the paid service, and it will cover everyone under your farming operation, no matter the size.


How many Grain Carts can I have connected to the cloud service?

Unlimited. If you have 1 grain cart or 100 grain carts in your operation you can connect them to your operation. We don’t charge extra if you have more than one grain cart. The data being stored from your grain cart is very small and isn’t a burden for us to maintain whether you are a small or large operation. Each grain cart is identified by the name you assign it, and a small Bluetooth® wireless technology address that gives it a unique identifier. If you are a custom operator and often join the effort to harvest alongside other custom operators or neighbors, you can share your Bluetooth® wireless technology device with them and allow them to bring your grain cart into service temporarily under their REAP cloud account. Don’t worry, sharing your grain cart only means that they will be able to record the weight data from the grain cart and apply it to their cloud account as it is being unloaded – they will not have access to your cloud account or records. For custom operators, this functionality is provided because equipment is often rotated throughout the operation geographically and is supporting different customers.


How often do I need to renew my cloud service?

REAP comes with a free cloud service automatically.  It is a system designed to be utilized in conjunction with the cloud, so we wouldn’t be doing you justice if we charged you every year just to use your REAP device. However, we have some enhanced features both within the app and the web dashboard that will require a paid subscription. The paid cloud service is an annual renewable service subscription. There may be future offers which allow you to subscribe to multiple year subscriptions at a discount, but this option does not exist at this time. Subscription service is non-refundable.


Do I go to my dealer to renew my subscription?

No. Subscription renewal is handled directly within the REAP web portal located on the Scale-Tec website.


Do you share the data stored on your cloud web servers with any other company, service, or entity?

No. Scale-Tec firmly believes that your data is your property and considered private information. Scale-Tec will not share your data nor sell your data.  If you want us to share your data it is because you choose to do so. We also will not aggregate your data. We firmly believe that you trust us to be custodians of your data. As such, we are committed to ensuring your data is secure, always available to you, and backed up regularly. Should you choose to cancel your account, your data will be immediately and permanently erased from our servers.


What is the difference between the paid version of the cloud service and the unpaid version of the cloud service?

The REAP app will function the same in the control mode (Grain Cart), however, the remote users will have limited functionality. They will only be able to see the grain cart weight when they are within 400 feet of the grain cart. The remote user will not be able to change the selections of Field, Truck, Destination or Moisture unless they have the paid version of the cloud.

The Web Dashboard will have formatted reports for paid cloud users, which will enable them to filter and organize their information in a more presentable manner. For free cloud users, the web dashboard will still provide reports, but you will only be able to export a basic report with all of your information in one report for all loads.


What format are the reports saved in?

The reports are saved in a csv (comma separated value) format which is viewed as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.


Is cellular data required?

The REAP system is designed to function in a rural area where continuous cellular data or internet connectivity may not be available. Cellular data is not required, however, an internet connection is required to initially setup your iOS REAP app. Capabilities may be degraded without cellular data or internet connectivity. For example, a user will not have enhanced remote capability in the field to remotely change selections such as Field name, Truck name and Destination name. To do this, you will need cellular data or WiFi internet available for both the remote user and controller.   Remote users will still be able to connect to grain carts within 400 feet and see live weight data of the scale without cellular data. Without cellular data, all the records will be saved to the iOS device and will be automatically uploaded to the cloud for management and generation of reports, when the device detects an internet connection through cellular data or WiFi.


How big of a cellular data plan do I need?

The data that is being transmitted from your REAP device is very small. Large operations with multiple grain carts can easily utilize a 1-2 GB data plan for the REAP app to function with the cloud service and still have a lot of data left on their plan at the end of season.
